What is “SOLIDWORKS with Cloud Services”?

If you’re buying Solidworks this year, you will probably see the words “cloud services” tagged onto the end of the product title. As of 2023, all licenses of Solidworks CAD now come with mandatory "Cloud Services". This is the same for all SOLIDWORKS Resellers and is not specific to Converge.

When purchasing any license from Converge Design, you will be directed to the 3DExperience platform initially to retrieve your serial numbers. We have built a custom landing page that will contain all of your Serial Numbers to keep them organized and accessible anytime for you. You will be given a specific link to the login to your own 3DExperience Platform portal.

"Cloud Services" is referring to roles in the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform. Now every license of SW CAD comes with a certain number of Roles/Apps in the 3DEXPERIENCE platform. You can choose to use those or to not use them, however, the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform does offer some advantages even for Desktop Solidworks users.

What Roles do I receive with my Solidworks license?

There are a few initial Roles that all users will receive when logging into the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform.

The primary role is called 3DSwymer. This role contains various core apps.

3DSwym: (Communities, Message Boards, Direct Messaging, etc.)

3DPlay: 3D file viewer in the web browser.

3DDrive: file storage application inside the 3DExperience Platform. Learn More here
