Titan Steel Door - Improving CAD Data Creation
Last month, we introduced you to Titan Steel Door in this blog post, and how, even as a successful manufacturer of steel doors, they had room for improvement under each pillar. In this part of the story, we will dive deeper into exactly how we solved their issues under just the CAD Data Creation pillar.
A Site Visit that Changed Everything
After some initial discussions with leadership at Titan, we were able to visit their facility to dig deeper. What we found was both surprising and promising: Titan’s wide-ranging product catalog was really just four core offerings—each highly configurable. This discovery opened the door for a scalable solution for all future CAD Data Creation.
Instead of reinventing the wheel for each new order, Converge proposed a future-focused roadmap that adjusted their CAD workflow to include:
- Reimagine their CAD process using a master model approach.
-
Implementation of a cloud-hosted SOLIDWORKS PDM environment using the Axis Vault.
-
Migrate purchased parts, COTS libraries, and reference files for easy access.
-
Provide targeted training to equip the team for long-term success.
Once our team had a handle on the issues and the plan forward, we were able to show the team a simpler way to reuse design work instead of redesigning all projects.
Replicable Workflows = Repeatable Success
After mastering the new design workflow, Titan's engineers quickly replicated the process across their remaining product lines. Training was conducted both remotely and on-site to ensure consistency and clarity. Soon, the engineering team was generating accurate, fully aligned drawings in a fraction of the time.
What once took hours now took minutes. Where there was once confusion, now there was confidence.
1000s of products and designs were actually 4 unique products with hundreds of configurations. How many of YOUR designs suffer from neglected design workflows?
