Here at Converge, we’ve been focused on enabling remote access for CAD teams for years. This concept has been at the core of everything we do since the beginning, and now with this global pandemic, it’s more important than ever. With designers, engineers, and IT professionals forced to manage their entire workload from home, some companies are scrambling to find and implement a remote Cloud-based solution to keep their CAD users working during the stay-at-home order. However, every one of our current clients who utilize EpiGrid’s Cloud-hosting services for SOLIDWORKS Cloud are equipped to weather this storm with access to the tools they need regardless of where they’re forced to work.
One such case of a company that took the steps to enable remote access to their CAD data is Dive Technologies out of Quincy, MA. Way back in the Spring of 2019, Bill Lebo of Dive Technologies came to us looking for a SOLIDWORKS PDM solution that allowed their CAD users to design their Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVs) before they had an office in which to seat everyone. Dive Technologies was looking to enable collaboration through the SOLIDWORKS Cloud PDM application without having to invest in on-premise server infrastructure.EpiGrid’s Cloud-hosted SOLIDWORKS PDM solution enabled their team to utilize their tried-and-true CAD tools without the IT burden associated with deploying such a system.
“We moved from coffee shops, to kitchens, to three different offices before we settled into our own facility. In order to make critical progress on our technical design, we needed a cloud storage solution for our CAD data that could be easily and securely accessed from any location.”
-Bill Lebo, CTO, Dive Technologies
Fast forward to spring 2020 and the unprecedented challenges many companies are up against due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We checked in with Bill recently and here is what he had to say about how his company is weathering this storm.
“Thank you – not just for the 100%-on-top-of-it support we get from the Converge team, but because we now have 7 engineers working through the vault on a daily basis from kitchens, living rooms, back yards, and occasionally the office. All seamlessly. Not sure what we would be doing now if we didn’t set this up.”
